Dem Kurti rennt ma schnell übern weg. Bei einem stoner oder doom oder metal Konzert. In den 1990ern, der zeit als ich Kurti kennen gelernt habe, waren es Punk Shows und Skateboard Ausflüge / Schwimmbecken / Hausparties wo ich ihm immer wieder übern weg lief. Kurti trifft aber auch ganz viele andere Menschen. Zum Beispiel in Häusern in Wien die gerade abgerissen werden. Und das werden sie laufend. Kurti besitzt eine emense Sammlung von abriss Bildern, die ausgewählt im Reumannplatz in der Westbahnstrasse gezeigt werden.
Auch wenn der vergleich hinkt – ich habe mal in der Albertina eine Ausstellung gesehen. Es ging um den abriss der Burgmauer und der Erbauung der Ringstrasse ende des 19. Jhdts. Ich war fasziniert. altes (heute romantisiertes) wich der moderne. aber so monumental es klingen mag ist es in Wirklichkeit nicht. Altes muss leider immer neuem weichen. uns bleibt das umdenken, Neuerfassen müssen. Und das ist das gute daran.
Kurt Prinz photographiert Häuser, Menschen auf Straßen, in Bands und sonst wo. er lässt seine Bilder auch übermalen und schüttet (mit den Atzgerei Menschen) literweise Farbe über Personenund photographiert schicht für schicht. Das heißt dann Stirnprumser.

Kurt Prinz zeigt „Chronologie der Zerstörung“ in der Gellerie Reumannplatz in der Westbahnstrasse von 3. September – 10. September.

You cross Kurti’s path pretty often in vienna. at a stoner or doom or heavy metal show for example. it was punk shows, skatetrips, swimming pools and houseparties where i ran into Kurt In the 1990ies, the decade i got to know him. but Kurt meets a lot of people. like at houses that get torn down. and houses are demolished all the time. Kurt has a big collection of torn down buildings; selected pictures will be shown at Reumannplatz in der Westbahnstrasse.

Even if the comparison doesn’t match well: i once saw an exhibition at the Albertina, where the issue was the the demolition of the castle/ city wall around the center of vienna at the end of the 19th century and the construction of the Ringstrasse.
i was impressed. old (today romantacized) gave way for modernity. But it was not as monumental as it may sound. old always has to give way for something new. what remains is to unthink, to capture the new. and this is the good part in it. Kurt Prinz is taking pictures of Houses, People in the Streets, in Bands and everywhere else. he lets his photographs repaint – and is shooting people getting coated by paint (together w/ the Atzgerei guys); taking pictures with every layer of poured paint. they then call it Stirnprumser.
